Put away the dungarees and put on your spandex, it's Sunday Parkways this week

This month's Dig-n-Dish is transforming into a Pedal-n-Dish. Join us Sunday, August 26th, at 10am (not Saturday, like the usual monthly work party) on the site of the Arleta Triangle Project (SE 72nd Ave and Woodstock Blvd) for a potluck brunch before heading out to ride Sunday Parkways with your neighbors around 11:00 am.

The route map is here.

Please ride your bike (of course) and bring a brunch dish to share (imagine feeding your crew and two others with it). Help us make this a zero-waste event by bringing your own utensils and dishes. Morning beverages and bagels will be provided.

Invite your friends and neighbors to visit the site and see all that we've accomplished this year. If you have questions or want to RSVP, email us at project@arleta-triangle.org.

And you thought DND meant Dungeons and Dragons

It's that time again. You know, for the monthly Dig-N-Dish. We dig in the dirt, then we dish up some lunch. (If you want to play Dungeons and Dragons, that'd be okay, too.) This month, we're working on our walkways again, laying down some pavers and generally tidying up the place to get ready for our canopy installation in August. Without further ado, the details:

Signs, Signs, Everywhere Signs...

Long time neighborhood denizen and Arleta Triangle supporter Scott Vala has been out in his workshop hand crafting the long-awaited archway sign for the project.

We are so excited, but we need your help installing this during out work party on April 21st. If you have power tools, a ladder, and/or good balance, drop us an email to let us know we can count on your support!

First Work Party of 2012: April 21st SOLV Clean-UP

For the fourth consecutive year, the Arleta Triangle Project will be partnering with SOLV for SOLVE IT, a day on which people from across the state come together to take care of our natural spaces. (Click here to register for this event.)

We've got a lot of things planned for this day:
  • Eco-roof Planting: we need plants for the green roof on the "Communished." Learn more about which plants work well on roofs like ours via this Ecoroof Plant Report.
  • Plaza Maintenance: we'll be wielding our new Hori Hori weeders to tackle the plaza, installing border plantings, and planting sedums alongside decoratively arranged flagstones in the pathways.
  • Sign Installation: long-time ATP supporter Scott Vala has been busy crafting an archway sign for our site, so we'll hang it up!

Here's how you can help:
  • BRING GARDENING TOOLS, BUCKETS, WHEELBARROWS
  • BRING YOUR OWN PLATE, CUP, UTENSILS AND A DISH TO SHARE
  • DONATE PLANTS FOR THE ECOROOF AND BORDER PLANTINGS
  • BRING A FRIEND OR NEIGHBOR WHO HASN'T BEEN TO THE TRIANGLE BEFORE
(Please note, because of this event, there will be no Dig-n-Dish the last Saturday of April. We will resume our regular last Saturday D-n-Ds for the Village Building Convergence in May!)
